2026 Relay for Life

Booting Out Cancer at the 2026 Charles County Relay for Life! 🤠🎗️

On June 6th, our community came together, saddled up, and hit the track with one clear mission: to Boot Out Cancer.

What an unforgettable event it was! Thanks to your relentless energy and support, our team had an incredible showing this year:

  • 🏆 Top Fundraiser: We raised over $11,000 for the fight against cancer!
  • 🥇 1st Place: Boot Competition
  • 🥈 2nd Place: Stick Horse Competition

We want to extend a massive, heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this day a resounding success. To the amazing volunteers who dedicated their time and energy, the enthusiastic participants who showed up to walk the track with us, and every single person who generously donated—we could not have done this without you.

Your dedication and generosity go far beyond a single event; you are making a profound, tangible difference in the lives of so many individuals and families battling this disease.

4th Annual Community Health Fair

We recently came together for a fantastic, free Community Health Fair dedicated to helping our neighbors stay active, healthy, and informed. It was wonderful to see so many individuals taking proactive steps toward their well-being by taking advantage of free health screenings, engaging in wellness workshops, and centering themselves during inclusive yoga classes. Attendees also connected with local health organizations for valuable resources, including direct assistance with SNAP benefits and community giveaways. A special and heartfelt thank you goes out to the members of the Divine 9 for their unwavering support and presence 🩷💚. Community impact is always stronger when we work together, and your dedication to service and fellowship truly elevated this event!

LPES March Madness

On Thursday, March 26, 2026, LPES brought the excitement of March Madness to life with a lively, family-centered event in the school gym. Drawing a crowd of 70–80 families, the evening was filled with energy, connection, and community spirit. Families and students rotated through interactive basketball stations, explored vendor tables, and discovered valuable resources available to them. They learned about mobile crisis support, local recreational opportunities, and how to access SNAP benefits. Each family left with more than just information—they received a basketball, a basketball-themed book, pizza, and snacks, making the night both fun and fulfilling. IPSMCC volunteers provided families with information about SNAP benefits and how to register to receive one-on-one assistance with completing the SNAP application process. Overall, the event was a slam dunk, bringing together fun, resources, and support in a way that truly benefited the community.

World No Tobacco Day

On May 22, 2026 we hosted an Art & Poetry Showcase to bring awareness to the harmful tobacco and nicotine products appealing especially to children and young people. Artists, writers, and creatives in 6th-12th grade joined us to showcase their talent and to let they community know why we should say NO to smoking and vaping

2026 MLK Day of Service

On Monday, January 19, our community gathered early at the St. Mary’s College of Maryland Admissions Building for a powerful morning of reflection, fellowship, and meaningful action. Starting with a warm prayer breakfast and transitioning into an inspiring program, we came together to honor the enduring legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This year’s theme, “Lighting the Way: Faith, Hope, and Action,” served as our guiding principle for the day. We were reminded that each act of service, no matter the size, becomes a spark that keeps Dr. King’s light alive in our modern world. That light was certainly shining through the incredible generosity of everyone who attended. Together, our collective action made a tangible impact across multiple areas of need. For the Cradle: We collected essential diapers to support families utilizing the Maryland Diaper Bank. For the Campus: We gathered non-perishable food items to help keep the student pantries fully stocked at both St. Mary’s College and the College of Southern Maryland. For the Community: We brought together donations of brand-new hats and gloves to provide vital winter warmth for the Robert J Fuller House. Thank you to everyone who woke up early, shared in the breakfast and prayer program, and contributed to our service initiatives. Your dedication to faith, hope, and action made this day a resounding success. Take a look below at some of our favorite moments from the morning’s program and community collection efforts!

Technology Essentials for Seniors

It was a joy to recently host our interactive, 2-part workshop, Technology Essentials for Seniors. As we navigate an increasingly connected landscape, ensuring our community members have the tools, knowledge, and confidence to thrive online is a top priority.

Over the course of two engaging sessions, participants dove into the Digital & AI World. We focused on moving past the intimidation factor of modern devices and software, transforming hesitation into hands-on empowerment.

Highlights from our time together included:

  • Demystifying AI: Breaking down Artificial Intelligence into simple, everyday concepts and showing how it can be a helpful tool rather than an overwhelming hurdle.
  • Navigating with Confidence: Guided, step-by-step practice on devices to help attendees feel secure while browsing, communicating, and managing information online.
  • Community Connection: Creating a supportive, zero-pressure environment where questions were encouraged, and members could learn alongside their peers.

The eagerness to learn and adapt was truly inspiring. We are incredibly proud of the progress made by everyone who attended and are thrilled to see our community members stepping into the digital space with renewed assurance.
